That was the call on WebIT on Thursday from project manager at Statens Museum for Kunst, Merete Sanderhoff. What would you do if the greatest works of art were freely available to you and your students? Is one of the issues that subsequently arise now that the opportunity is there.
The invitation iga gastronomia has been highly relevant for the National Gallery of Art earlier this year released the 158 artworks from their collection iga gastronomia for free use. The images are ready for download on their website, and in addition to that you can get work in high resolution, then there is also the National Gallery of Art released approx. 100 movies in their YouTube channel, which is also related explanations from the museum's talented employees to the many works.
Both images and movies are licensed under the Creative Commons license CC: BY, which therefore means that we must do what we want with the work, as long as we source specifies the minimum CC: BY SMK.dk. Thus we really free and only subjects and imagination sets limits to what we can do. Another angle to present art is to display it in a timeline. One could make a timeline, if you or the students will work with the historical angle on the world art 700 years and think about art interdisciplinary and put in a category into historical timelines called art, so that students have multiple parallel iga gastronomia layers of information on eg Denmark in the 1800s. The image is first downloaded in high resolution, and then I cut it out in a series of smaller images that I have stored in a size around 5 to 700 pixels. You can also use GoAnimate to create an art museum, where the characters can explore.
