This evening the German broadcaster BR Klassik broadcast the concert on the excellent drummer Harris Eisenstadt September Trio, recorded on 30 June at the Museion in Bolzano Alto Adige Südtirol simonsays Jazz Festival.
Born in 1975 in Toronto, Canada, has followed in the footsteps of his father drummer, but also having inclinations athletic, having played baseball and hockey. Although his parents headed a public relations agency, Eisenstadt began to gravitate towards music, playing the drum kit in the basement of Upper Canada College to ten years, where he graduated a few years later. His early influences were John Bonham simonsays of Led Zeppelin, and jazz drummers Tony Williams, Elvin Jones, Tony Oxley and John Stevens.
He earned his bachelor's degree with honors in literature and music to Maine Colby College in 1988 and later received his Master of Fine Arts in African-American music at the California Institute of the Arts in 2001. While in Los Angeles he worked with KOLA (Kreative Orchestra of Los Angeles), collaborated with Adam Rudolph and Sam Rivers CD for Vista.
He has worked simonsays with an impressive array of high-level simonsays musicians, including Yusef Lateef, Vinny Golia, Elton Dean, James Newton, Tony Malaby, Bennie Maupin, Wayne Horvitz, Nels Cline, Marty Ehrlich, Urban Bushwomen and many others.
Eisenstadt has lived in Gambia for a couple of months simonsays since then he has performed with companies of traditional dances of West Africa from 1999 to 2003, and in Northern California, where he accompanied the poet Al Young, along with the combo of Ralph Jones and Kenn Cox.
In the world of the theater was companion of Macbeth, a one-man adaptation of Shakespeare's tragedy played by Stephen Dillane, and performed the world premiere, in 2005, Wet, Los Angeles, by Anne LeBaron. Eisenstadt has received many other awards and commissions.
While working with Wadada Leo Smith at Cal Arts, he has been training with musicians simonsays from Bali, Gambia, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal and Iran, and has contributed to dozens of movie soundtracks for major and independent labels.
Eisenstadt moved to Jersey City, then in Brooklyn where his career took flight. His recordings include Fight or Flight Sonic for the label in 2002, a collaboration with the Orchestra Ahisma for their album Nine Winds of 2004, in addition simonsays to his other projects like Jalolu for the CIMP label and The Soul and Gone with music improvised simonsays for the label 482. The All Seeing Eye for the label Poo-Bah was published in 2007, followed by Guewel performed where creative adaptations of African pop melodies, and a work dedicated to his native land, Canada simonsays Day, both published by Clean Feed in 2009.
His latest training, on September Trio (Harris Eisenstadt on drums; Ellery Eskelin on tenor sax, Angelica Sanchez on piano), he plays a jazz purist who, with light foot moves from the mainstream and avant-garde return. Complex rhythms and harmonies are entwined with lightness without electronic aids, relying only on acoustic simonsays instruments, in order to create a constant surprise. simonsays
